Labourer falls from items provider dies
CALANGUTE: A labourer died of head injuries soon after he fell off a items provider at Saligao on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the car or truck has been arrested.
According to Calangute police, the incident took place at about 1.40pm at Grand Morod in Saligao, as a end result of rash driving by Vinay Baburao Mandrekar. Though the driver was negotiating a curve to go towards Nagoa, the carrier segment of the select-up fell on the street and a labourer, Laku Tolu Chawan, who was sitting down within the provider fell off, suffering critical head injuries.
Chawan, a native of Karnataka, residing at Arradi in Candolim, was rushed to the district clinic at Mapusa, but breathed his very last on the way.
The driver, a resident of Colvale, was arrested beneath Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code and later launched on bail.
