Labourer falls from items provider dies
CALANGUTE: A labourer died of head accidents soon after he fell off a goods carrier at Saligao on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested.
According to Calangute police, the incident took location at about one.40pm at Grand Morod in Saligao, as a result of rash driving by Vinay Baburao Mandrekar. Although the driver was negotiating a curve to go towards Nagoa, the carrier area of the choose-up fell on the highway and a labourer, Laku Tolu Chawan, who was sitting within the provider fell off, suffering serious head accidents.
Chawan, a native of Karnataka, residing at Arradi in Candolim, was rushed to the district medical center at Mapusa, but breathed his last on the way.
The driver, a resident of Colvale, was arrested under Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code and afterwards produced on bail.
