CALANGUTE: A labourer died of head injuries right after he fell off a products carrier at Saligao on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested.
According to Calangute police, the incident took area at all-around 1.40pm at Grand Morod in Saligao, as a consequence of rash driving by Vinay Baburao Mandrekar. Whilst the driver was negotiating a curve to go to Nagoa, the carrier section of the select-up fell on the road and a labourer, Laku Tolu Chawan, who was sitting down inside the carrier fell off, suffering major head accidents.
Chawan, a indigenous of Karnataka, residing at Arradi in Candolim, was rushed to the district clinic at Mapusa, but breathed his last on the way.
The driver, a resident of Colvale, was arrested underneath Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code and later on released on bail.
