Labourer falls from merchandise carrier dies
CALANGUTE: A labourer died of head injuries just after he fell off a merchandise provider at Saligao on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the auto has been arrested.
According to Calangute law enforcement, the incident took place at about 1.40pm at Grand Morod in Saligao, as a result of rash driving by Vinay Baburao Mandrekar. Even though the driver was negotiating a curve to go in direction of Nagoa, the provider section of the select-up fell on the street and a labourer, Laku Tolu Chawan, who was sitting inside of the provider fell off, suffering severe head accidents.
Chawan, a native of Karnataka, residing at Arradi in Candolim, was rushed to the district clinic at Mapusa, but breathed his final on the way.
The driver, a resident of Colvale, was arrested beneath Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code and afterwards released on bail.
